This lyrical text about the medieval city of Fez in Morocco has been written as a counterpoint to William Betsch’s photographs of the Hammam Moulay Idriss, situated near the western door of the eponymous mosque. It is one of the thirty traditional baths within the city walls. The photographs have been taken in February 1979, before the Friday prayers.
