À PROPOS D'UN MUR
Created by writer Serge Aroldi, this collection of small books or librettos to mail, composed in typography by the artisanal atelier Les Petites Allées, are precious and unusual objects. The idea behind the series Pour dire une photographie is to ask a writer, philosopher, art critic, or poet to write a text inspired by one photograph, which is on the cover of the book and a small print that could be hung on a wall. I chose to write about Sophie Ristelhueber’s image of a graffitied wall in Sarajevo which is a living memory of the ex-Yugoslavia war and could be a symbol of all wars.“It looks like a landscape of ocher earth, tilted vertically. It stands before us, filling the image to the brim. We bump into it. No perspective. Neither sky above nor earth below.”
