David Seymour, known as “Chim”, was one of the four founder members of the Magnum agency and a superb photographer equally gifted in reportage, portrait, landscape or still lives. His friend and fellow photographer, Robert Capa, was fond of saying: “ It’s him, the good photographer.” Capa was expressing his admiration for a grand figure of photojournalism whose beliefs and battles he shared. His reportages epitomized a profoundly humanist, compassionate style and approach which, to this day, remain the touchstone of photojournalism Carole Naggar wrote the bio-critical text for this book.
