Published on the occasion of the photographer’s exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and illustrated with over 100 images, this is the first retrospective monograph on the work of William Klein, known for his ironic and unconventional approach of photojournalism and fashion and his strong use of harsh black and whites. The book encompasses his series New York (1954-1955), Rome (1956), Moscow (1959-1961), Tokyo (1961), Elsewhere (1956-1980. In her text, Carole Naggar lists as a mock index arranged in alphabetical order all of the themes, topics, inspirations and preoccupations of Bill Klein, from ‘aller-retour’ to ‘Zazie dans le métro’.
